UOL was conferred the prestigious Distinguished Patron of the Arts award for the second year by the National Arts Council, in recognition of its continued positive impact on the arts community.

At the Patron of the Arts Awards (POAA) ceremony held on 12 September 2023 at Equarius Hotel, UOL Chief Financial Officer Kwa Bing Seng and PPHG Executive Director (Sustainability Partnerships, Lifestyle & Asset) Wee Wei Ling received the award. The Guest-of-Honour was Mr Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister of Law.

Established in 1983 by the National Arts Council of Singapore, the Distinguished Patron of the Arts award given out at POAA represents the highest accolade given to organisations and individuals who have contributed towards the development of the arts.

UOL Group Chief Executive Liam Wee Sin said: “We are honoured to receive the Distinguished Patron of the Arts award, which serves as a testament to our unwavering support of the arts and our enduring commitment to making a positive impact in the communities we serve. We will continue to foster an inclusive arts community to help build a vibrant and thriving society.”

Over the years, UOL has leveraged its people, assets and partnerships to support artists, including those with special needs, to showcase their extraordinary talents. In celebration of its 60th anniversary, the Group launched UOL X ART:DIS Art Prize, Singapore’s first comprehensive art prize that recognises all stages of artistic practices by artists with disabilities, in August 2023. UOL hopes to elevate the profiles of these talented artists and create more opportunities for artwork sales.

As an award recipient of POAA since 2019, UOL remains committed to nurturing and empowering artists of all backgrounds, and contributing to the vibrancy of the local art scene.
