UOL has clinched two Bronze awards for Best Risk Management and Best Investor Relations in the large-cap category for companies with $1 billion and above in market capitalisation, presented at this year’s prestigious Singapore Corporate Awards. These accolades underscore our unwavering commitment to transparent and effective stakeholder communication.

The ceremony, held on 7 September 2023 at The Ritz-Carlton, was graced by Dr Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower, and Second Minister for Trade & Industry. UOL Chief Financial Officer Kwa Bing Seng and UOL Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary Yeong Sien Seu received the awards for Best Investor Relations and Best Risk Management respectively.

Established in 2005, the Singapore Corporate Awards serves as the umbrella awards for exemplary corporate governance practices for listed companies in Singapore. It is jointly organised by The Business Times, the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants and the Singapore Institute of Directors and supported by organisations such as the Singapore Exchange and the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority.

Mr Yeong said: “As we celebrate our 60th anniversary, we stay true to our Vision of Creating Value, Shaping a Sustainable Future. Market cycles are volatile and getting shorter and we constantly face disruptions. We have been agile and have adapted to the uncertain business environment, while taking calculated risks. We are disciplined and manage risks by having a strong balance sheet and a diversified real estate and hospitality portfolio.

He added: “Our people are also key to UOL’s risk management efforts. Our Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Enterprising Spirit provide us the confidence to face the challenges ahead and seize the right opportunities.”

In recognition of our dedication to corporate governance practices during challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, UOL received the Corporate Excellence and Resilience Award in the large-cap category at the Singapore Corporate Awards 2021 (Special Edition).
